A Message from Infant Toddler Family Day Care:  Standing in Solidarity

Our hearts have been heavy as we watch events unfold across the country in the past few weeks.  We want to express that we stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and support inclusive and equitable child care environments.   Infant Toddler Family Day Care (ITFDC) embraces and recognizes its diverse population as a tremendous asset. We celebrate equity, diversity, and inclusiveness because these traits are vital to supporting all healthy children and communities.

As a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), we fully support its goal to nurture a more diverse and inclusive generation of young children who thrive through their experience of equitable learning opportunities in early learning programs.

As an organization, we are committed to:

  • Actively building a community whose members have diverse backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences.
  • Promoting a culture of open-mindedness, inclusiveness, and compassion among individuals and groups.
  • Promoting social justice and diversity in all ITFDC activities, addressing issues related, but not limited to ethnicity, race, culture, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, ability national origin, social economic class, veteran status, and religion.
  • Creating and maintaining opportunities for education, engagement, and discourse related to issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Honoring ideals of citizenry, freedom of expression, and civility of discourse as fundamental to professional, personal, and organizational growth.

We realize that there is much more work for all of us to do.  Infant Toddler Family Day Care was founded with the motto ‘Become Part of Our Family’.  We will continue to ensure that ALL can be part of our family fairly and equally.
